Fun working with App’s

Personally I enjoy the “App’s”, the camera feature and the iPod type functionality of my iPhone more than the mobile telephone functionality. I will not be surprised if that is the case for many users of the iPod.

It was not the case when I received my phone approximately one year ago. It took me a while not to be put off with the silly camera build into the iPhone but to rather look at the fun aspect of using the iPhone as a photographic device.

At first I downloaded a standard camera application plus one or two helpful applications like DOF calculators.

Phone-Pic

Later I discovered more applications plus I learned about a few really interesting editing applications. Today I am a fully converted iPhone user and I just love using it as a photographic toy. The awesome thing about using the iPhone and its applications is, it all costs nearly nothing. My son came to me this week saying, Dad I bought a new lens and I thought wow, how much did he spend? It was only when he told me its for his camera “App” on his iPhone and the lens cost 1 dollar that I was smiling, thinking just how much fun it is using the phone.

All the pictures in this article was taken with my iPone. Very few are edited because most of these pictures were taken using special applications that simulate old cameras or old film styles.

Before buying applications, take your time and look first....

Working in the Mac environment one feel safe and one think its all well. That’s a mistake because unfortunately those who use the service for the wrong reasons are also operating here. Things to look out for are:-

  • A light version to be upgraded later to get full functionality. Good marketing stunt but not fun for the user...
  • Paid Apps that later requires to be upgraded to get additional or full functionality.
  • Apps requesting a connection with outside servers, mostly to share personal data.
  • Any strange behavior or correspondence as typically done on the www or in mails.

The iPone and its applications are great fun but similar to things like Facebook one has to be really selective plus do not trust something if you did not done some basic research on the company or service.

Retro Camera this application is called. It simulates this type camera and one could expect the typical look and feel of pictures one had from this camera.

PanoLab Pro this application is called. It allows the user to stitch together single and multi row pictures very effectively.

Video Panorama - Personally I do not know this application. Reason for showing it is to illustrate just how much is available when one start searching.

In future articles I will discuss applications in more detail plus it could be a idea to even look a little deeper into some of these applications. How to use them, are there any special setting one should know, can the pictures be used in other applications and much more. I will be happy if you can give me feedback on this page and if there will be a need for building on this page.
